چکیده

Some medical images have significantly high levels of brightness contrast: parts of the image may be very bright while others may be very dark. Global contrast enhancement often fails to provide clinicians with an image that facilitates the easy visualisation of all the required information, while traditional local contrast enhancement is computationally intensive thus limiting its applications in practical diagnosis. POSHE, a technique proposed by Joung-Youn Kim et al., overcomes the computational barriers of other methods. However, with POSHE, two key factors accuracy and noise are not considered, making it largely unsuited for medical image processing. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed for removing the blocking-effects that are generated in partially overlapped subblock contrast enhancement (POSCE). Experiments show that the new algorithm not only removes the more significant blocking-effects, while keeping image detail, but is suitable for many kinds of contrast enhancement. The algorithm thus expands the area of POSHE applications.

An advanced contrast enhancement using partially overlapped sub-block histogram equalization

In this paper, an advanced histogram-equalization algorithm for contrast enhancement is presented. Histogram equalization is the most popular algorithm for contrast enhancement due to its effectiveness and simplicity. It can be classified into two branches according to the transformation function used: global or local. Global histogram equalization is simple and fast, but its contrast-enhanceme...

Image contrast enhancement based on local brightness and contouring artifact improvement for large-scale LCD TVs

Generally, the global histogram equalization of contrast enhancement methods was used in various application fields because of its simple and effective function. But, as it has a disadvantage that the brightness of an image is changed excessively, in spite of heavy computational complexity, overlapped sub-block histogram equalization method reflecting local histogram properties is used mainly. ...

Effects of Structure and Partially Localization of the π Electron Clouds of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes on the Cation-π Interactions

A C102H30 graphene sheet has been rolled up to construct Single-Walled Carbon NanoTube Fragments (SWCNTFs) as parts of armchair carbon nanotubes by computational quantum chemistry methods. Non-covalent cation-π interactions of the Na+ cation on the central rings of SWCNTFs have investigated. The binding energies of the Na+-SWCNTF complexes versus ...

Adaptive Image Dehazing via Improving Dark Channel Prior

The dark channel prior (DCP) technique is an effective method to enhance hazy images. Dark channel is an image with the same size as the hazy image which represents the haze severity in different places of the image. The DCP method suffers from two problems: it is incapable for removing haze from smooth regions, causing blocking effects on these areas; it cannot properly reduce a haze with a no...

Efficiency Enhancement of Si Solar Cells by Using Nanostructured Single and Double Layer Anti-Reflective Coatings

The effect of single and double-layer anti-reflective coatings on efficiency enhancement of silicon solar cells was investigated. The reflectance of different anti-reflection structures were calculated using the transfer matrix method and then to predict the performance of solar cells coated by these structures, the weighted average reflectance curves were used as an input of a PC1D simulation....
